Red Hair Dye Addicts

I have darkish brown hair and I bought red hair dye and bleach. However, I would really hope there is a way tp get it back to red without using bleach. I mean like, little mermaid red. I had it that color before and I cant remember what color it was when I first dyed it red. Do you think its possible to do without using the bleach?

Schwarzkopf intensive red palette [Jan. 12th, 2012|03:24 am]

Hi all! I've gone bright RED from black (Asian) hair for the past three months and am loving it! So far, I did an underdye which I love because the red really shows up quite stunningly when the wind catches my hair or when I put it up in a messy bun. For upkeep, I'm using  Punky Colors but I'd like to see what other drugstore brands I can use that would be easier on the pockets in the long run. Has anyone tried 'Intensive Red' from Schwarzkopf's Palette range for this kinda red

Cheers!

First time dying red! o.o [Mar. 13th, 2011|11:18 pm]

I've been wanting to dye my hair red for years, and now I'm finally going to do it! So I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on good dyes?
I have lightish brown hair that I don't plan on bleaching. I don't use conditioner, because I have fairly oily hair, but I can start using it if needed? I also straighten my hair most days.
I really want a RED red, not a fuchsia, magenta, red-violet, reddish orange, or dark pink. and I want to go as long as possible without needing to redo it.
I hope you can help me out! (:

Red dye throwing us all for a loop [Feb. 6th, 2011|05:51 pm]

My sister has naturally dark brown hair with auburn tones to it. She recently dyed it with Garnier Nutrisse's #66 "True Red" and we were all disappointed with the results. The hair looks washed out and nowhere near as bright as it should've come out. It's weirding us out because red usually sticks to her hair like crazy and we usually have to wash her hair 2 or 3 times after dyeing it to get some red to bleed out so the hair color doesn't look neon or something. We have no idea what went wrong but now we're going to try and change it to L'Oreal Feria's #74 which is an orange-based red color.

We don't know if adding it over the Garnier red will lead to a freakish color or something, so we're asking here what we should do.

Cut for picturesCollapse )

red dye on non-bleach hair ? [Sep. 11th, 2010|03:58 pm]

hi, im new here and im totally a red hair addict =)

I used to have punky color poppy red hair dye, but with my new job I need a red a bit less agressive and Im trying to avoid re-bleaching because roots grows too fast! xD

i tried l'oreal most flashy red they had and it turned kinda purple shade and faded under 2 weeks.

do you have a suggestion on what color i could use to still have red hair without bleaching and using punky or special effect dye ?

i would love to get a deep red but not too flashy

thanks a lot !

(my naturel color is between light brown and brown, at the moment they are half bleached, under a poor auburn shade)

Hokay. I'm not new to dying- I prefer greens and blues but now it's time for red! HOWEVER! Halp plz ;_; A year ago I tried a burgundy color (either RAW or manic panic) and it came out bright pink. I blamed it on dying just after bleaching/using toner/washing my hair, and shrugged it off.

Currently I have mostly bleached hair that is not white, but not yellow- perhaps "corn husk" color. It's been growing out all summer because I didn't want to re-bleach and dye until after my summer job. To test some reds I shampooed my hair, skipped the conditioner, towel dried, and processed dye on little parts for 2 hours (usually I'd leave it in for 6+ hrs).

I did a test strand of Manic Panic's vampire red. It went in fuscia. And is even more hot-pink-fuscia after three washes, though it's still vibrant (I'll give it that).

I then went out to buy RAW's Fire Red, did a test strand, and thought it was perfect! However, it washed out almost completely after one gentle shower. I really don't want to spend more money testing all the red dyes I can find, so I come to you for advice!

So! Am I doing something wrong to make them pink? Do I need to skip conditioner for a week or something to make my hair more porous? And what the heck can I do about the RAW color aside from keeping some in my conditioner?

Hey!
I'm still without red hair! But I'm gonna get it done soon :)
This is my current hair colour;

I want to dye it red, but I know any store bought dyes won't give the red I want.

Like this (pretty bitch) only a little brighter?
So I was wondering, any tips on how to do this, without burning all my hair out with bleach?
I have fine hair, and yeh, I don't wana be bald xD
Thanks <3

EDIT;
While searching for bleach (I was gonna go for Bblonde) I came across a cheap spray in hair lightener, Sun-In.

I've done some research on it, but I'm getting anything I want in the lines of information!

So, I'd like to know,
1. Is it permanent?
2. Will it lighten my dark hair?
3. Will I be able to dye over it?

Thanks in advance Xox

Hey all!
I was just wondering, if I use ColorFix to remove the color I have in my hair now (dark brown, nearly black), what shade will it turn? I'm just nervous that It'll be too light, and then when i dye it red, it'll be too red. You know? Cause I want this color:

(Sorry. I'd post the pic itself, but for some reason it wont show up :/)

I've had it before, and absolutely loved it. But I didn't have to lighten my hair to color it then, so I'm not sure what it'll look like now. Sooo, any suggestions/ advice?

Thanks :]
